Upcoming September Events

Armory Pub Sing Tuesday, September 21, 6:00 – 8:00pm

n normal times, Jeff Keller and Jeremy Kessler host a twice-monthly pub sing at the Arts at the Armory Café, but during the pandemic they've been meeting online. Tonight, however, Jeff and some of the regulars will gather to sing in-person for the first time since lock down. All are welcome, and anyone can lead a song, but no-one is obliged to. Drinking songs and sea chanteys always go over well, but anything with a good chorus (i.e. one that people can join in on) will be appreciated!

Music with Mark and Friends

Thursday, September 23, 6:30 – 8:00pm

Experience a mix of jazz with Latin flavors, provided by professional musicians Mark Torgerson and David Rumpler, with invited musical guests. In addition to the carpentry and construction experience that Mark provides the Growing Center as a volunteer, he has been part of the Boston and New England music scene for decades as lead guitar with African and Afro-Latin world music bands. David Rumpler adds his jazz and Latin keyboard talents, with a special love of Brazilian styles. Spread your blanket or grab a chair, bring your own picnic, explore the native pollinator garden or the food and herb beds—and enjoy a summer serenade!

Gathering of the Fairies

Saturday, September 25, 3:00 – 5:00pm

Dust off your wings and get out your fairy dust! Come enjoy the Gathering of the Fairies, a family-friendly event filled with fun ways to celebrate the magical creatures and spirits in our lives.

  • Build a fairy house in the garden

  • Decorate a fairy wand or a wizard’s staff

  • Send a postcard to a magical creature

  • Get you face painted

  • Listen to a fairy tale

To volunteer, email Morgan at volunteer@thegrowingcenter.org. Any questions, email Liza at liza@thegrowingcenter.org
