SeedMoney™ Grant Update!
We are inching closer to the finish line with our SeedMoney Challenge, and could use a boost! The Friends of the Community Growing Center has been participating in a grant competition, so far successfully raising $1,000 from 20 individual donors, and surpassing our original goal of $600. But the deadline of December 15 is fast approaching––and we’d love some help spreading the word during the final stretch of this campaign! Check out our campaign page here!
SeedMoney, a Maine-based nonprofit focused on funding sustainable food garden projects, offers challenge grants every year to food garden projects across the world through a 30-day crowdfunding challenge from November 15 to December 15. This year, they are offering 315 grants totaling more than $55,000.
The size of a grant that a project can receive depends on how much it is able to raise over the 30-day period compared to other projects participating in the challenge. So, the more we raise, the more gets matched, up to $600!
We have 6 days left to collect online donations and qualify for our Challenge Grant of $600. Since we surpassed our original goal, we’ve added a “Stretch Goal” of $1,200. With your help and that of other friends and neighbors, we could reach that goal easily over the next six days. We’re 83% there already!
The purpose of the grant is to help expand our food and herb production gardens at the Growing Center, including adding a new demonstration raised bed area. This will help us to better serve the community both through additional hands-on learning space and through added food production capacity. Read more about our plans in this blog post.
